A prolific avant-garde artist that creates a multitude of multimedia installations,
Yin Xiuzhen first moved into installation work in the 1990s, inspired by the
quickly changing environment of her native Beijing. Investigating the effects
of globalization in works such as Portable Cities (2002-2004), Yin examines
the changes brought about by new communication technologies and changes in
distribution of wealth. Working out of Beijing, Yin has exhibited extensively
throughout the world, participating in the 1999 touring exhibition Transience:
Chinese Art at the End of 20th Century, the 2002 Gwangju Biennale in Gwangju,
Korea, and the 2003 exhibition with her artist husband Song Dong, Sars Times:

exhibitions include the 1998 exhibitions, Brain- Exhibition of Installations,
at the Manchester Craft Centre, United Kingdom, and Dining Table - Exhibition
of Installations, at the Ruine for Arts, Berlin, Germany.
